I think i would also like to see a little more overlapping shapes- I see some, but would love to see more that are defined better- maybe put some of those fern leaves in front of your explorer
awesome piece emily! think the background looks great, maybe refine a few parts but i think it reads well and can stay blury for the most part just lose the line work in the background

hmm. I agree with gulzar, values are too close, I would punch up the contrast a bit.
