It is a really fun expression- subtle and effective- but I think we need to be able to tell what it is that he created and I think if he has rubber gloves he needs a lab coat... I would change the color of the hacky-sack so it looks different than his hair and shirt.
I think just putting more detail into the hacky-sack will help push things. also the texture on the bottom advances a little too much. you might subdue it a little so it doesn't distract from your focal point.
